Some government ministers intend to attend the inauguration ceremony for new settlement “Ma’ale Zeitim”, in Ras al-Amud neighborhood in East Jerusalem next week. The ceremony will be held during the visit of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the United States. Among the guests in the ceremony will be Education Minister Gideon Saar (Likud), Minister of Environmental Protection Gilad Arden (Likud), Ministry of Interior Eli Yishai (Shas) and Minister of Science Daniel Hershkovitz (“Jewish Home”). In addition, Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin (Likud), and the mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, will attend. The event is an initiative of the neighborhood committee, “Ateret Cohanim” Yeshiva, the Jerusalem lobby in the Knesset, and Dr. Irving Moskowitz, sponsor of the neighborhood, and his wife Cherna.

A report by the US State Department sharply criticizes Israel for not granting asylum to refugees, and on the “hot return” procedure. The report defines the policy of the Interior Ministry as “fundamentally flawed”.
