On the basis of the conclusions of the Turkel committee, the High Court of Justice asked the State of Israel to consider its decision not to open a criminal investigation into the circumstances of the death of Jawaher Abu Rahmah in Bil’in.

The Turkel Committee, which vets senior civil service appointments, called on the Attorney General, Yehuda Weinstein, to investigate some anonymous letters claiming that Major General Eli Gabizon of the Israel Prison Service had romantic affairs with five women of the Service, and that in one case he allegedly helped one of them to upgrade her benefits, in contradiction to the Service procedures. Gabizon is a candidate to be the Commissioner of the Prison Service.
