According to an investigative report by Australian television channel ABC, Ben Zygier, an Israeli with Australian citizenship who was held in complete isolation at Ayalon prison, committed suicide in his cell. According to the report, Zygier was imprisoned without anyone’s knowledge. Zygier’s jailers did not know the identity of the prisoner under their charge nor the reason for his arrest. The affair has been under a gag order, and reports about it in Israeli media have been censored. (ABC)

A British citizen, who used to be the PR administrator of the Israeli Tourism offices in Britain, committed suicide a few weeks ago. A few months earlier, she sent a letter to the chief of marketing department in the Ministry of Tourism, Oren Drori, claiming that the head of the Ministry of Tourism delegation in Britain, Rafi Shalev, had sexually harassed her. The disciplinary manager for the Civil Service Commission, Asaf Rozenberg, sent a letter to the CEO of the Ministry of Tourism, in which he claimed that the officials did not attend to the worker’s complaint for many months, and failed to forward it to the Commission in time, as dictated by the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Law.
