Four police officers disguised as civilians broke the arm of a 14 year old boy of Silwan, on suspicion of throwing stones at the police force.

A weekly report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) reveals that this week there were nine incidents of violence by settlers against Palestinians, which caused the death of one Palestinian, three wounded, and damage to Palestinian property. Settlers alegedly shot to death one Palestinian boy in Silwan, in East Jerusalem; Settlers destroyed several acres of farmland in the villages of Michmas and Dir Nidham in the Ramallah governorate, and in the villages of Burqa and Ramin in the Tulkarm governorate. According to reports from the village of Tuba in the Hebron governorate, settlers vandalized several buildings, killing two sheep and stole seven others. In addition, settlers threw stones at Palestinian vehicles traveling West Bank roads near Ramallah and Hebron, and damaged six vehicles.

The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ weekly Protection of Civillians Report claims 35 Palestinians were injured in demonstrations and confrontations with Israeli forces in the past week. 10 Palestinians were injured in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem, including 3 paramedics and 3 youths; 15 Palestinians were injured in demonstrations on the West Bank, including the village of Iraq Burin, Hebron governorate and Ramallah governorate. 10 Palestinians were injured in confrontations with Israeli forces at a checkpoint, after a number of small structures in the Hebron governorate were demolished during military raids on villages.

Murad [Milad] Ayyash, a 17[16]-year-old Palestinian youth was injured critically from Israeli security forces’ gunfire during demonstrations in [Silwan,] East Jerusalem today (Friday). Three more Palestinians sustained light injuries from non-lethal bullets fired at them.

In its Protection of Civilians weekly report, The UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) records [PDF] 9 incidents of Palestinians being assaulted by settlers in the past week. The incidents took place in Qaryut, Silwan, Burin, Hizma, Beit Hanina, the Qalqilya and Nablus governorates.

According to a report (PDF) of the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the IDF imposed a curfew on the Palestinian village of Awarta for five days following the attack in Itamar. During the curfew, the residents were not allowed to leave to buy food or medicine. During the curfew settlers formed an outpost on 15 dunams [15,000 m²] of privately owned land of the village’s. The report also indicates that during recent weeks, Israeli forces have injured 65 Palestinians, of them 25 children. Many of the injuries (28, of them 16 children) took place in the neighborhood of Silwan in East Jerusalem, during clashes between local residents and Israel Police.

A young Palestinian was badly injured by a rubber bullet in his spine, during a demonstration in Silwan neighborhood in east Jerusalem, according to medical sources. Wadi Hilweh information center reports the protests became violent after security forces shot tear gas at the neighborhood’s residents while they were getting ready for their weekly prayer.

Judiciary: 13 January, 2011

The State Attorney has ordered the Mayor of Jerusalem to fix a date, post haste, to seal Jonathan House in the Silwan neighborhood in East Jerusalem. Weinstein criticized Barkat’s decision to postpone the evacuation, and hinted that his intervention in this procedure borders on being a criminal offense: “Carrying out the order to evacuate and seal the house is an obligation determined by the court.”
