Safed’s Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Eliahu, announced he supports the gentler version of the “Rabbis’ letter”, according to which the prohibition of renting or selling of apartments would be limited to “Israel-hating Arabs”. Eliahu noted that “this is the same message”. (Hebrew)

In an interview with Haaretz, Safed’s chief rabbi, Shmuel Eluahu, said living next to Arabs is “unpleasant”, and that if an Arab wants to live in Israel, he has to do so as a guest. The rabbi further said that “the investigations of [operation] Cast Lead hurt soldiers”, and that “today our problem is not an itchy trigger finger, but that there’s no finger at the trigger”.
