Many residents of Nofit are opposed to any attempt to permit a Bedouin family to build a home in their area, on land which they have owned since the Ottoman rule of the region. The family’s huts are not connected to any utilities. (Haaretz)

The head of the Palestinian water authority, Dr. Shaddad Attili, argues that Israel has delayed water and sewage development projects, in response to their unwillingness to support such projects in the settlements. He also related that Israel prevents Palestinians from developing additional water sources which are much needed.

The Jisr Az-Zarqa* Junior High School has been closed, due to serious defects in the school building.  Among the defects found were sewage flowing in the school, lack of lighting in classrooms, exposed electrical wires and garbage scattered in the building.

The sewage from the settlement of Ateret flows into the area’s streams. The people of Ateret have expressed objection to the creation of the Palestinian planned city of Rawabi in the area, citing, amongst other things, that sewage disposal for the city has yet to be resolved.
