The comptroller at the Public Security Ministry says the police are insufficiently supervising security at Israeli schools: the police do not supervise school security well enough, while the protection they do provide does not correspond to potential threats, and not all security guards are up to the job. Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino has been keeping the report under wraps. Member of Knesset Yitzhak Herzog, a candidate for head of Labor Party, told students during a visit to two schools, that ”it is important that many of you will come to the protest demonstration on Saturday, even if it will make you miss school time on the following day.”

A report by the Central Bureau for Statistics shows that the school drop-out rate of students in the South is 16% higher for Arabs than for Jewish students. However, the report also shows a 20% fall in the drop-out rate of Arab students from schools between 1980 and today. (Hebrew)
