The Ministry of the Interior refuses to grant Israeli citizenship and immigration certificate to a homosexual married to a Jew. The couple immigrated to Israel two weeks ago, and while the Jewish spouse received an ID card and immigrant certificate, his non-Jewish spouse received a temporary resident status. This is contrary to the provisions of the Law of Return, which stipulate that the rights are granted to both the Jew and his partner.

The Ministry of Interior refuses to give Israeli citizenship on the basis of the Law of Return to individuals who converted to Judaism under Orthodox authorities in Canada and the United States and wish to make Aliyah [move to Israel]. This policy contradicts a High Court of Justice ruling.
