Police and Prison Guards Ombudsman, Hanna Keller, said in an interview that “the police’s organizational culture with regard to complaints from policemen is still lacking.  In operational units, there are still those who think a policeman who stands up for his right to file a complaint is just a crybaby who is trying to harm his commanders.”  Keller said she does not rule out the possibility that police personnel are instructed by their superiors not to file complaints and are instructed how to behave in case a complaint has been filed. In the last three months, a special team of 30 police officers has been engaged in an intensive investigation against right-wing activists, responsible for a series of cases of violence and vandalism against Palestinians and IDF forces in the West Bank.  So far, the team has failed to produce any significant progress.

A report by the Comptroller of the Ministry of Public Security determined that Israel Police has hired applicants who failed the entrance tests, or did not meet the application requirements.  In addition, the report determined that officers were placed in fabricated positions while serving in a different capacity than that stated.

Police Commander Niso Shacham, who made the headlines during the Disengagement from Gaza after he told the settlers: “Fuck them, let them burn, I will fuck their mothers”, and also instructed his subordinates to beat them with clubs, will be appointed the Jerusalem District Chief Commander.
