Michael Azoulay has been charged with insulting a public servant due to an article he published in which he criticized Yaakov Nagel, who holds a senior position in the Defense Ministry, for his role in the development of the Iron Dome missile defense system and the thwarting of the importation of a laser canon for the defense of southern communities.

Gadi Eisenkot, Chief of Northern Command, said in a lecture at the Haifa University that the Kipat Barzel [iron dome] missile defense system was not meant particularly for the defense of civilians but rather, for the defense of military bases.
“The residents of Israel should not have the illusion that someone will open an umbrella over their heads,” said Eisenkot. “The systems are designed to protect the air force bases, the navy bases, and the recruitment bases – even if that means that during the first days of the fighting, the citizens will suffer discomfort.” (Hebrew, English)
