During an acrobatics performance in Modi’in a woman who volunteered to participate went on stage.  On the request of Haredi crowd members the woman was removed from the stage after a short while and only men were asked on stage thereafter. (Haaretz)

The Beer-Sheva Zoo was open for the Haredi public only on Wednesday.  Secular visitors who complained of this discrimination were eventually allowed in the zoo, but only if modestly attired. (Ynetnews)

In order to receive the strict mehadrin kashrut certificate from Agudat Yisrael’s Badatz (Rabbinical Court), the Haredi-owned Heimische Essen restaurant in the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem will stop employing waitresses on Thursday evenings, when large numbers of yeshiva students patronize the eatery. The Government decided to expand after-school program subsidies in order to support working parents, but the criteria for the subsidy have not been changed, so that 73,000 non-working Haredi men enrolled in kollels receive the subsidy.

The secretariat of Haredi[?] settlement Haresha in the south Hebron hills rejected an IDF force of female soldiers sent as guards. Residents of Haresha will guard the area until the IDF sends a force of male soldiers only.

A new study maps the ethnic component of each of the economic decile’s of Israel’s population.  According to the study, approximately 47 percent of the top decile are Ashkenazim, while they make up only 25% of the total population.  Only 26 percent of the top decile are Mizrahim, exactly like their proportion of the total population. 48 percent of the bottom decile are Arabs and 19 percent are Haredi.  Only 6 percent of this decile are Ashkenazim, while 12 percent are Mizrahim.  The study further shows that the average income of Mizrahi households is 20 percent, or 1,000 NIS, lower than in Ashkenazim households.

The Jerusalem District Prosecutor’s office has filed sexual assault charges against Ze’ev Frank with the city’s Magistrate’s Court.  Frank, a 28 year old resident of the city, is accused of yelling the word “slut” at a woman in the Haredi [?] neighborhood of Mea Shearim, and spitting on her, after which he ordered her to “get out of here”.
