The director of Jewish education at the Municipality of Eilat, Rabbi Haim Farjun, said: “If you your grandchildren to stand and sing HaTikvah (the national anthem) with you, you should be careful about mixed marriages and friendship with gentiles”. One of the Right Wing extremists noted: “In Eilat the Jewish resident have succeeded – in a neighborhood of about 10,000 inhabitants, haters of Israel have been driven out”.

The headmaster of the “Od Yoseph Khai” yeshiva in Yizhar, rabbi Yizhak Shapira, said he supports the letter of the rabbis who forbade renting apartments to gentiles, and said the letter doesn’t go far enough. According to Shapira, “activism must be employed in the issue of, as others before me defined it, ‘Arabs out’, and the rabbis must take hyper-responsibility to the issue of activism in war.” Shapira further said that he supports “Neighbor Procedure”, i.e. the usage of Palestinians as human shields, since “it is a moral deformity, in any shape or form, to take people of a civilized nation and spill their blood in order to harm people of a debased nation”. Ya’el Mishali published a Ynet column supporting the 50 rabbis forbidding renting apartments to gentiles. According to Mishali, the psak (ruling) “sounds perfectly all right”, and she does not wish to live “among people that the Zionist vision did not consider to be the cornerstone of the Jewish State”. Rabbi Rephael Cohen, director of the Kosher Certification department of the Tiberias Religious Council, published an open letter to the residents of Tiberias in which he warns them from non-Jewish traveling salesmen, whom he claims are selling stolen goods to the residents at tempting prices. “I believe that the public will be alert to the issue. There is no doubt that if we co-operate with them, we will harm the financial well-being of Jewish business-owners in town,” wrote the Rabbi. (Hebrew)
