MK Danny Danon today responded to Im Tirzu’s report, saying “we are in an unrelenting crusade against gross intervention by foreign anti-Israeli countries against the state of Israel. It is time to shut all sources of Arab or European funding that feed incitement against Israel, and force upon us their attitudes though the naiveté that exists in a democratic regime.”

Limor Livnat, Israel’s Minister for Culture, announced that she will act to prevent support of any theater that refuses to perform in Israeli territory, including the Occupied Territories. According to Livnat, “we are a democratic country and artists have the right to express protest, but it is not their right to boycott the citizens of the State of Israel, and we will act to require cultural institutions to perform throughout the entire country.” (Hebrew)

Cabinet ministers from the Yisrael Beitenu party declared that they intend to work to stop direct financing of the artists who signed the letter calling for a boycott of the Ariel cultural hall (Hebrew). The ministers will try to stop financing of the artists’ trips abroad and avoid inviting them to perform before state organizations and in other ways.
