A French national was injured following a direct hit by a gas canister shell during a demonstration in Nabi Saleh.  The IDF spokesperson claimed that the female protester was hit by a stone thrown by Palestinians, but a video of the incident proves otherwise.  The protester was evacuated to a hospital in Ramallah suffering heavy bleeding, but her injury is not considered serious.

The Samaria-Judea District of the police has recommended not to prosecute Border Patrol policemen who shot left-wing demonstrator Emily Henochowitz in the eye half a year ago, in Qalandyia. Henochowitz was wounded by a gas cannister shot by a Border Patrol soldier. Her family claims that she was targeted directly, in violation of orders. Adv. Michael Sfard, who represents the family, claims that the police investigators were negligent in their work. He claims that no testimony was collected from eye-witnesses, including the Haaretz journalism team, which photographed it as it occurred. Sfard stated that “the J-S district police is the Border Patrol’s waste-treatment plant [sic]. Every investigation of a killing or wounding ends up smelling of no guilt. This case proves that the negligence borders on cover-up. Anyone who thinks that there is no need to investigate objective eye-witnesses who stated that the Border Patrol policeman aimed directly is obstructing the investigation and admitting that it has no intention of discovering the truth.” (Hebrew)

The SHAY (Shomron ve’Yehuda) district of the police recommended not to indict two Border Guardsmen who wounded Emily Hanukovich in the eye. Hanukovich, a leftist protester, was hit six months ago by a gas canister fired to her face by a Border Guardsmen, According to her family, the canister was shot directly at her, contrary to regulations. Adv. Michael Sfard, representing the family, claims that the police interrogators were negligent; he says witnesses, among them a team of Haaretz newspaper who photographed the event, were not questioned. Sfard said further that “The SHAY district is the Border Guard’s waste disposal facility. Every death or injury investigation ends with the fragrance of lack of guilt. This case proves the negligence borders on coverup. Anyone who thinks there no need to interrogate objective witnesses, who said that the Border Guardsmen fired directly, obstructs justice and admits he has no intention of finding out the truth”.
