The High Court of Justice has issued a show-cause order for the state to explain why it shouldn’t overturn the income support payments for married yeshiva students that went into effect last year.  The previous arrangement was cancelled last year by the High Court, and the petitioners claim that the new arrangement continues to favorably discriminate Yeshiva students relative to other populations.

Government departments have discontinued all audits of 1,200 Yeshivas and Kollels (Torah schools for married men), financed by the State. The inspection, carried out by inspectors and auditors of the Ministry of Finance, was discontinued in July, by an order of the Accountant General.
