Following a negligent investigation of a violent rape in the South Hebron Hills the wrong person, a 16 year old Palestinian, was arrested and held for five months.  Shai Police District arrested the youth even though an eyewitness denied his involvement, he did not match DNA from the crime scene, and no effort was made to track the victim’s stolen cell phone.  Only when the case came to trial did a military judge order the police to continue their investigation, which eventually led to the arrest of the suspected perpetrators and the release of the 16 year old shepherd. A family from Sudan was wrongfully detained prior to deportation in recent days by inspectors of the Population and Immigration Authority and placed in the Saharonim Detention Facility.  Only following an appeal to Minister of Interior Eli Yishai by social activists via Facebook was the family released.
