According to the Association for Civil Rights in Israel’s (ACRI) Annual Report on the State of Human Rights in Israel and the OPT 2012, the past year has seen a record in incitement and violence towards asylum seekers. Fire bombs were thrown at homes and a kindergarden for the children of asylum seekers, apartments of asylum seekers were torched, and asylum seekers were stabbed. Public figures and senior government officials made racist remarks, declaring that asylum seekers are criminals and that they spread disease. (ACRI)

Military and Security Forces: December 14, 2012
Two Reuters photo-journalists were beaten by IDF soldiers while covering clasheds between IDF forces and Palestinians in Hebron. The soldiers forced the journalists to strip and get on their knees in the middle of the street. According to the journalists, they were beaten and teargas granades were thrown at them. They further claim that the soldiers accused them of belonging to human rights organization “B’Tselem”. (Ynetnews)

שני צלמי עיתונות מטעם רויטרס הוכו על ידי חיילי צה”ל בשעה שסיקרו עימותים בין כוחות צה”ל לפלסטינים בחברון. החיילים הורו לצלמים לפשוט את בגדיהם ולכרוע על ברכיהם במרכז העיר. לטענתם, הם היכו אותם והשליכו לעברם רימוני גז. הצלמים טוענים כי החיילים האשימו אותם כי הם משתייכים לארגון “בצלם” (וואלה!).

Three young haredi men attacked and Arab cab driver after hailing him in Jerusalem’s Beit Yisrael neighborhood. One of the men threw a frozen drink into the cab, and when the driver began chasing him on foot, another assailant broke one of the cab’s windows.
