Although the students rights law states that “all students have the right to organise and protest on any subject or issue, including those regarding students and their rights, according to the rules in each institution’s internal bylaws,” in practice the internal bylaws of universities give them the power to prevent almost all public activities by students. The bylaws of Haifa University, Bar Ilan University and the Hebrew University state that the Chairman can suspend all activities for a limited time, and that all public activities will be held at the time and place approved by the university.

Arab students in the University of Haifa have complained to the Council for Higher Education, claiming that the institution is discriminating against them during the admission process.

The Haifa Municipality dismantled protest tents located next to a synagogue headed by the Minister of Science, Daniel Hershkovitz (Ha’Bait Ha’Yehudi). The protest tents were set up by residents of the outpost of Givat Assaf.

Author of the book “Torah of the King” and head of “Od Yosef Chai” Yeshiva in the settlement Yitzhar, Yitzhak Shapira, will attend the conference organized by the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Haifa, in which there will be a session about the book. This book discusses cases in which, according to some interpretations of the Halacha, it is permitted to kill the Gentiles.

The University of Haifa is examining (Hebrew) the complaint of a lecturer, who claims to have received a veiled threat from students, members of Im Tirzu. The two members told her they were supposed to report to the movement about courses and syllabi. One of them laughed and said “But you’re OK, you’ve got nothing to fear”.
