Three Jewish youths were arrested on suspicion of assaulting an Arab youth in Tiberias over the weekend. During their investigation it was discovered that two of the youths were also involved in an assault on an Arab resident of Yaffo last week. (Haaretz)

Avi Dor, a resident of Tiberias, claims he was told not to write comments against Tiberias Mayor Zohar Oved on his Facebook wall for 15 days, during police questioning on suspicion of threats against the mayor. A few days earlier Eitan Oved, a Tiberias municipality member, was also questioned after writing an unfavourable status on Facebook about the mayor.

A Border Police officer admitted he sprayed pepper gas in the corridors of the Caesar Hotel in Tiberias, causing an evacuation of vacationers from the hotel. About ten casualties were evacuated to Poriyah hospital in the city.

A policewoman was video taped spraying a hawker with pepper gas, in the compound of the tomb of Maimonides in Tiberias. The hawker said that he tried to hide some of the products in a store, to prevent police from confiscating them, and then the policewoman sprayed his eyes. Then, he claims, he was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

An indictment was submitted to the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court against Tiberias’ Mayor Zohar Oved, and against Avner Sharon, CEO of a data recovery and software development company. According to the indictment, they conspired to infiltrate into the computer of Benny Eliyahu, the city comptroller, in order to trace files.

In Tiberias, two eucalyptus trees, about 80 years old, were cut down to make way for a “Kohanim road” — a road that will allow Kohanim to drive through the center of the city without passing near the cemetery (the Kohanim, a lineage of priests, are traditionally forbidden from being in the vicinity of cemeteries.) Originally residents were told the trees would be cut down in order to pave a broad road with four lanes.
