The Magistrate Court in Be’er Sheva convicted Danny Haveri, a police officer of the Southern District on charges of aggravated assault for kicking a Palestinian man from Hebron in the testicles. The Palestinian had to undergo surgery and one of his testicles was amputated.

Internal Security: December 24, 2011
The Office of the Public Defender accused the Southern District Police of repeated infringement of detainees’ rights by forbidding them to receive legal advice before police interrogation. The court also criticized the police in several cases where investigators refused to wait for a defense lawyer before beginning interrogation, thus preventing them from consulting with a lawyer.

Eilat police officer has been suspended after he posted on the web a presentation summarizing the attacks in Eilat, with a picture of one of the Arabs killed in the action. According to Southern District Police spokesman, making the presentation was in violation of the directives and guidelines of secrecy.
