The Shai District Police has filed an indictment against a minor for allegedly assaulting a police officer, even though one of the officers who was an eyewitness of the incident claims there was no assault.  The Police retracted the indictment only after a judge forced it to hand over the officer’s disciplinary record, which includes four investigations for violence. Following a negligent investigation of a violent rape in the South Hebron Hills the wrong person, a 16 year old Palestinian, was arrested and held for five months.  Shai Police District arrested the youth even though an eyewitness denied his involvement, he did not match DNA from the crime scene, and no effort was made to track the victim’s stolen cell phone.  Only when the case came to trial did a military judge order the police to continue their investigation, which eventually led to the arrest of the suspected perpetrators and the release of the 16 year old shepherd.
