A survey conducted by The Second Authority for Television and Radio found that minorities are portrayed negatively on news broadcasts, entertainment shows, talk shows and reality shows on Israel’s commercial TV channels.

The Association of Rape Crisis Centers submitted a complaint to David Regev, ombudsman of the The Second Television and Radio Authority following advice given by psychologist Varda Raziel Jacont on her radio program to a female listener who wrote about being sexually assaulted by her partner. Raziel Jacont’s response to the story was that the listener was being “egocentric and hysterical” and advised her to “loosen up sexually”.

During operation Pillar of Cloud, dozens of complaints were sent to the Second Authority for Television and Radio, which regulates commercial broadcasts, about interviews with Palestinians and a show of empathy with them. Out of 170 complaints received, 48 dealt with interviews with Palestinians, mainly the interview with MK Ahmad Tibi (Ra’am-Ta’al), in which he attacked Channel 2′s military analyst, Roni Daniel.
