50 left-wing activists and Palestinians from the village Beit Omar protested at noon against the expropriation and fencing off of village grounds. Settlers from Karmei Tzur confronted the protesters, and the two groups threw stones at each other. Settlers threw stones at a Palestinian journalist, who was lightly wounded. Soldiers used riot control weapons against the Palestinians.

IDF Spokesperson’s blog published last night a post regarding the demonstrations in Hebron and Bill’in. The post read: “Protesters are free to participate in non-violent demonstrations, and speak their opinions, as they please. However, when violence is being used against people and property, the security forces are obligated to respond with riot control measures”. This despite the fact the IDF is forbidding demonstrations in the west bank. In Al-Ma’asara village, for instance, the soldiers disperse demonstrations using tear gas and shock granades, although the protestors don’t throw stones or vandalize property. Later on, the post, and the video in it, were removed from the blog. Both can be seen here
