A complaint has been filed with the Justice Ministry’s Police Investigations Department against a police man from Tel-Aviv district who is suspected of using a tazer against a detainee at the Bat-Yam police station, while the detainee, who suffers from mental illness, was handcuffed and hiding behind an investigator in one of the station’s rooms.

The police decided to pass on to the Justice Ministry Police Investigations Department several severe complaints about police brutality towards demonstrators, during a demonstration to support Palestinian prisoners outside of Ramle prison two weeks ago.  The complaints include the use of tasers on demonstrators, punching and kicking bound detainees, sexual harassment and use of racist, demeaning and abusive language. Police Investigations Department arrested a police officer with a rank of Chief Inspector from Petah Tikva, on suspicion of abuse of detainees by using a TASER electric stun gun, even when they did not resist arrest.
