“Israel Readings,” a study booklet for the Officer’s Training School’s (Bahad 1) entrance exam omits many details of the history of the State of Israel. For example, in the entry about Former President Moshe Katzav, the fact that the former president is charged with rape is ommited. In the entry about the Second Lebanon War, the Winograd Committee’s report criticizing the IDF’s performance in the war is not mentioned at all.

High Court of Justice Judge Salim Jubran stated that the police deliberately avoided investigating the leaks from the investigation of Former President Moshe Katsav and is still declining to do so. Jubran quoted Yoav Segalovich, Head of the Police Investigations Unit, who led the Katsav investigation, as saying that he decided to focus on the main allegations rather than pursue side investigations to find the leaks. He attested that just like he refrained from investigating the seemingly problematic conduct of the defense during the affair, so did he refrain from investigating the leaks.

Supreme Court Justice Hannan Meltzer hinted that former President Katzav could be cleared of the criminal charges pending against him under an abuse of process defense if it is determined that the State Prosecution exacerbated the charges against him in order to overcome problems due to the statute of limitations.
