The Public Committee Against Torture in Israel is set to file a petition to the High Court of Justice over the closure of an investigation against two policemen suspected of beating a security detainee at an Israel Police station in the West Bank. This, despite the existence of evidence against the policemen. The two policemen are suspected of abusing a  27-year-old detainee, Mohammed Ibrahim Warani from the Palestinian village Al ‘Eizariya. Two weeks after the arrest Warani complained that he was beaten as soon as he arrived at the station. A physical examination corroborated his allegation. The Internal Investigations Unit cited the fact that no one else at the police station reported hearing anything out of the ordinary from the interrogation room in explanation of its decision.
