Education: May 17, 2011
Only 9.85 percent of the students in Bnei Brak are eligible for matriculation diploma, says data from the Ministry of Education. Other cities which are at the bottom of the list are: Qalansawe (with 32.7 percent), Modi’in Ilit (14.7 percent), Jisr az-Zarqa (12.5 percent), and Betar Ilit (6.5 percent).

Politicos in the ultra-Orthodox settlement city of Modi’in Ilit married off a 13 year-old girl this week, as a “correction” for starting to see a 16 year-old. The marriage took place in opposition to a court order forbidding the parents from marrying off their daughter, and against the protest of the city’s rabbis.
