Major General (Res.) Amos Gilad, head of the Defense Ministry’s diplomatic-security bureau, said that “democratic aspirations” in Egypt had resulted in a “terrible dictatorship.” Minister of Defence, Ehud Barak (Atzmaut) said that the comments made by Amos Gilad do not reflect Israel’s position.

Ramat-HaNegev Regional Council has issued stop-work and demolition orders against infrastructure work for the tent city being built in the south to house thousands of asylum seekers. Head of Council Shmulik Rifman said that “the work started as a result of improper conduct by the Ministry of Defense, which started the work without the proper permits, and therefore we issued the demolition order.”

Military and Security Forces: December 19, 2011
In the framework of an agreement being reached between the Ministry of Defence and the residents of the illegal outpost of Ramat Gilad, five mobile homes in the outpost which were set up on Palestinian owned land will be moved a few meters away. This agreement will in essence legalize the outpost and its eviction will be prevented.
