A report by the NGO Anynimous for animal rights found that 18 years after the animal protection law was passed, there has been no visible change in protecting animals in Israel and that the Ministry of Agriculture avoids issuing directives that will protect poultry, cows and fish.

The Ministry of Justice is formulating legislation which would expand state agencies’ authority to conduct telephone and e-mail surveillance of Israeli citizens.  The proposed legislation would allow agencies such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Garden Authority, and the Antiquities’ Authority to use information gleaned from electronic surveillance in their investigations.
