A new report published by the Yesh Din human rights group reveals that of the 240 complaints regarding possible crimes committed by Israel Defense Forces soldiers against Palestinians filed with the Military Police in 2012, only 78 investigations were launched and not a single indictment was served. An IDF soldier was sexually harassed in a military base in the north of the country.  His superior officers have opened an investigation into the incident, but due to his reluctance to file a complaint, a Military Police investigation will not be opened.

A Military Police soldier lodged a  complaint against Lt. Col. Shalom Eisner – the deputy commander of the IDF’s Jordan Valley Brigade, filmed assaulting a Danish pro-Palestinian activist with his rifle but – claiming the Lt. Col. threatened the soldier he would “break his face” after the soldier stopped him for exceeding the speed limit.

A military policeman admitted to lying about being stabbed in an incident near Carmiel in the north of Israel. Two 16-year-old boys who were arrested on suspicion of stabbing the policeman were discharged.

A soldier serving in the Armored Corps claims that he was forced to stand out in the rain for two hours while waiting to take a drug test at a Military Police base.  According to the soldier, MPs denied his request to stand under a nearby awning.  Furthermore, during his interrogation investigators forced him to strip naked.

The Military Police has detained two soldiers, from the Golani and Paratrooper brigades, on suspicion that they gave sensitive information to right-wing activists who organized an attack on the Efraim Regional Brigade’s base.
