The chief of security at the IDF’s Intelligence arm, code-named “Max”, has applied to Tel-Aviv District Court judge Dalia Ganot for a gag order regarding the compensation suit filed against the state by “Captain George”, who was responsible for the interrogation of Mustafa Dirani and whose identity remains confidential, and for the proceedings to be held behind closed doors.

Seven months after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced its creation, the new taskforce against cyber-terror officially started operations, but without a budget or jurisdiction. The preferred head of the unit, Brigadier General Yair Cohen, a former head of the Intelligence Command’s unit 8200, has refused the job after seeing that he would not receive the necessary resources to fulfill the task force’s mandate.

In 2007, before the Hamas took over the Gaza Strip, then-chief of AMAN (military intelligence) Major General Amos Yadlin, said he would be happy were that scenario to take place. This is revealed by an American wire exposed by Wikileaks. Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Boaz Harpaz, who confessed to having forged the Galant Document, was reinstated in a classified military intelligence unit, in direct violation of an instruction by the former Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General (Ret.) Aharon Zeevi-Farkas. After the police investigation was completed, suspicions arose that Harpaz was continuing to maintain an extensive relationship with the Special Operations branch, and was exposed to sensitive, military intelligence material. Additionally, a suspicion that senior officers in the Special Operations system maintained prohibited relationships with Harpaz. (Hebrew)
