Central Elections Committee Chairman, Justice Elyakim Rubinstein, banned an ad campaign by far-right party Otzma Leyisrael, headed by MKs Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari, over charges that it was racist. The campaign was “meant to degrade a single group in the State of Israel – The Arab population,” explained Rubinstein. (Haaretz)

Chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, MK David Rotem (Yisrael Beitenu), has asked the Central Elections Committee to bar Arab party Balad from the forthcoming elections to the 19th Knesset. MKs Michael Ben-Ari and Aryeh Eldad (Otzma LeYisrael) asked to bar both Balad and Ra’am-Ta’al, another Arab party, while MK Ofir Akunis (Likud) has asked that MK Hanin Zo’abi (Balad) be disqualified as a candidate. MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) published a message to IDF soldiers participating in operation “Pillar of Cloud” on his facebook page: “Our Brothers! Beloved soldiers and commanders – take care! Don’t care about Goldstone! It is possible that within hours you will enter Gaza to crush the head of the monster. Please, we are waiting to hug you back home, don’t pay attention to Goldstone. There are no innocents in Gaza, don’t let any diplomats trying to look good in the eyes of the World risk your lives. At the slightest risk to your lives, destroy”.

Member of Knesset who participated in a violent demonstration against foreign nationals held in HaTikva neighborhood of Tel-Aviv-Yafo expressed understanding of the violence committed by local residents against foreigners. MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) even claimed that the children of foreign nationals might be infected with dangerous diseases.

Foreigners and left wing activists were assaulted during a demonstration demanding the expulsion of foreigners held at the Tel-Aviv-Yafo neighborhood of HaTikva. In addition, the headlights and windows of a vehicle in which foreign nationals were driving were smashed, as well as the windows of stores owned by asylum seekers. During the demonstration speeches were made by members of Knesset Danny Danon (Likud), Miri Regev (Likuds), and Michael Ben-Ari (National Union).

The Courts’ Administration Legal Adviser, Attorney Barak Lazer, is demanding an investigation into the allegation that MK Michael Ben-Ari (Nationl Union) is responsible for posting posters throughout Jerusalem, in which Supreme Court Justices appear wearing keffiyehs with the wording “If there is no loyalty, there is no justice”.

In a conference titled “conclusions from the Holocaust” organized by the “Holocaust Lessons Caucus,” led by National Union MK Michael Ben-Ari, left-wing activists were compared to kapos – Jewish collaborators with the Nazis, and anarchists were described as Nazis. In addition to MK Ben-Ari, the discussion was attended by MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union), Yonatan Yosef, speaker of the Jewish settlement in Sheikh Jarrah, David Bedein, and Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, head of the Temple Institute.
MK Michael Ben Ari (National Union) praised Lieutenant Colonel Shalom Eisner on his Facebook page, after the latter hit an unarmed left-wing activist in the face with his M16 during a protest against Israeli policies in the Jordan Valley.
MK David Rotem (Yisrael Beitenu) has stated that he will ask the Minister of Justice to depose Supreme Court Justice Salim Joubran for refusing to sing the national anthem at the retirement ceremony of Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch. Following the incident MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) announced that he intends to put forward the ‘Joubran bill,’ according to which a judge who did not serve in the IDF or national service[?] would not be able to serve as a Supreme Court Justice.
