Nazareth Magistrate’s Court sentenced eight months in prison on Nasser Shaer (37), a resident of Majdal Shams, who was convicted of assaulting a public servant and disorderly conduct. Shaer, who threw stones at security forces during Naksa day, was also sentenced to 18 months on probation and a fine of 2,500 NIS.

Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel filed a complaint with the Police Investigation Unit (PIU), on behalf of a number of protesters who participated in the events of Nakba Day in Majdal Shams, who argued that many police officers acted violently against them. The complaint, drafted by the Attorney Orna Cohen of Adalah, lists several cases of throwing stun grenades and tear gas on protesters, kicking and punching the faces of protesters, throwing a demonstrator on horse manure, and spraying pepper spray at the face of a demonstrator from close range.

Two residents of Majdal Shams who participated in Naksa day riots were charged with aggravated assault of a public servant and rioting. The two were accused of throwing stones at IDF soldiers.
