Following a meeting between Ynet’s political analyst, Attila Somfalvi, and Knesset candidate Eldad Yaniv (Eldad Yaniv), the site’s management decided to punish Somfalvi by not letting him publish any commentary columns during the next month, even though it is the height of election season. As part of his political campaign, Yaniv has targeted Ynet and Yediot Aharonot owner Noni Mozes.

The Knesset’s Ethics Committee announced that it has decided to deduct four days’ pay from the wages of Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman (Likud-Beitenu) for missing 22 plenum sessions – four more than permitted – in the Knesset’s summer session. (Ynetnews)

Dr. Gilad Natan, a researcher in the Knesset Research and Information Center was recently removed from his post because of left-wing views he had expressed outside his workplace. The Knesset management explained that the decision was made because Natan harmed the MKs confidence in the center’s research papers, but admitted that “no fault had been found in his research.” A team of Knesset officials, including the Knesset director general, its legal adviser and the head of the Knesset Information Division – with the blessing of Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin – decided to reassign Natan to a position in the Knesset Archive. Chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, MK David Rotem (Yisrael Beitenu), has asked the Central Elections Committee to bar Arab party Balad from the forthcoming elections to the 19th Knesset. MKs Michael Ben-Ari and Aryeh Eldad (Otzma LeYisrael) asked to bar both Balad and Ra’am-Ta’al, another Arab party, while MK Ofir Akunis (Likud) has asked that MK Hanin Zo’abi (Balad) be disqualified as a candidate.
