A Palestinian was killed and 10 injured from IDF fire near the Gaza border fence east of Khan Yunis. Anwar Qudaih was shot in the head after approaching the border fence, an area declared by the IDF as a security buffer zone off-limits to civilians. His relative said that Qudaih tried to place a Hamas flag on the fence, and that the soldiers fired three shots in the air before shooting and killing him. (Haaretz)

Palestinians report that a four-year-old boy, Muatazz al-Sawwaf, was killed by Israeli artillery fire in the Khan Yunis area in southern Gaza. The IDF Spokesman denied that Israel attacked the area.
Military and Security Forces: May 20, 2011
A Palestinian demonstrator was wounded in his lower body by live ammunition from Israeli forces during a demonstration, in which protesters tried to approach the fence, east of Khan Yunis, in the Gaza Strip. IDF claim that the protester was “a major instigator.” The soldiers were ordered to shoot to the legs of the protest organizers.
