MK Robert Tiviaev (Kadima) has proposed a bill that “will require a two-year cooling-off period, regarding any public statements to the media, from the following positions: the director of the Security Agency (“Shabak”), director of the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations (“Mossad”), a military officer with the rank of Major General or higher, a police officer ranked Major General or higher, and Prisons Commissioner, after retiring from service.”

According to a Bill initiated by Member of Knesset Eli Aflalo (Kadima), the election of Chief Rabbis of the State will not be limited to only one term. As of today, Chief Rabbis can serve only one term of 10 years. If approved, the new law will apply to the incumbent Chief Rabbis.

Yisrael Katz (Likkud), Minister of Transport and Road Safety, said during a visit to the settlement of Itamar that “if the Palestinians take unilateral steps, all of the settlements in Judea and Samaria [West Bank] should be annexed to Israel”. Shaul Mofaz (Kadima), Chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said similar things.

On a tour held by the State Control Committee along the Egyptian border, the chair of the committee, MK Yoel Hasson (Kadima) said that the government must propose a series of bills to enable return of infiltrators to their countries of origin: “This flood of 14,000 foreigners a year has already hurt Ashdod, Eilat, Arad, Beer Sheva, and south Tel Aviv. If we do not turn around in time – we will suffer a series of social, demographic, and criminal damages.”

Knesset Member Tzipi Livni (head of Kadima) today enforced factional discipline, in order to force the Party to vote YES on the bill proposed by Marina Solodkin (Kadima). The bill says that a daily newspaper which exceeds 40% of the national distribution cannot be offered for free, but rather it must be sold for a pay. The bill, which was objected in the Committee of Ministers on Legislation, will be brought tomorrow for pre-reading.

Kadima chairperson, MK Tzippi Livni, decided to reinstate Moshe Shchori as secretary general of Kadima. Shchori is suspected with bribery offenses with regard to the Israeli Tax Authority corruption affair, and had recently been in house arrest under these suspicions.

MKs from the Likud and Kadima has proposed a new bill stating every treaty will have to get approved by the Knesset first, before ratified by the government. MK Danny danon initiated the bill, and was joined by Ze’ev Elkin, Carmel Shama, Tzipi Hotovely, Yariv Levin, Miri Regev and Zion Pinian from the Likud, Avraham Michael and Nissim Ze’ev from Shas, Yaakov Katz from Haihud Haleumi, AND Otniel Schneller from Kadima.
