Member of Knesset Avi Dichter (“Kadima”) initiated a Basic Law, which defines the State of Israel as the State of the Jewish people. According to the law, Hebrew will be the country’s sole official language. The law also states that the State can establish ethnic communities divided by religion or nationality, such as Jewish, Muslim or Christian communities.

Israel Beitenu party is planning to bring back to vote the bill to establish a parliamentary commission of inquiry to examine the leftist NGOs. In addition, MK Uri Ariel (Ha’ichud Hale’umi) and David Rotem (Israel Beitenu) put forward a new bill stating that NGOs which do not support Israel as a Jewish state would be outlawed.
