Internal investigations by the IDF revealed that parents of young men enlisted in the military have paid thousands of Shekels to Lt. Col. Boaz Harpaz, in return for him arranging for the boys to get accepted to the military intelligence.
Special Operations command (“Mem-Mem”) in the Military Intelligence Directorate (“Aman”) is lacking supervision for years, and nobody reviews the methods and processes of acquiring special means necessary for covert operations. This is contrary to the well supervised procedures in the Mossad and Shabak, two other secret services. This has been revealed recently by an investigation of a military commission, appointed by Defense Minister Ehud Barak, to examine the actions of Lt. Col. Boaz Harpaz, who is suspected of forgery.
Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Boaz Harpaz, who confessed to having forged the Galant Document, was reinstated in a classified military intelligence unit, in direct violation of an instruction by the former Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General (Ret.) Aharon Zeevi-Farkas. After the police investigation was completed, suspicions arose that Harpaz was continuing to maintain an extensive relationship with the Special Operations branch, and was exposed to sensitive, military intelligence material. Additionally, a suspicion that senior officers in the Special Operations system maintained prohibited relationships with Harpaz. (Hebrew)
