A security guard from the private security firm “Modi’in Ezrachi” is suspected of detaining a young woman from the village of Ras Hamis in East Jerusalem in a checkpoint near her village, in order to get her telephone number.  The young woman complained to the police that the security guard detained her for 20 minutes, despite her constant pleading, releasing her only after he had verified that she had given him her real number.

Israeli Police continues to unnecessarily extend remands of Palestinian detainees, in spite of recurring calls from the Courts, that the remands border, on the face of them, on illegal detention. The military court Judge, Major Menachem Lieberman, in his decision not to extend the detention of Naji Arar, has written that, not only the youth was not interrogated at all, but the interrogating officer, Lieutenant Pinchas Zeevi, has signed false documents, to make believe that an interrogation took place and has not been finished.
