The Chairman of the Israel Broadcast Authority, Amir Gilat, has proposed that all IBA plenum discussions will be confidential, that plenum members will receive meeting summaries of decisions instead of minutes of meetings, and that the authority to decide the plenum’s schedule will reside solely with the chairman.

The Israel Broadcast Authority (IBA) employed attorney Yehuda Raveh, who is associated with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, without issuing a tender and without asking for an exemption from holding a tender from the Finance Ministry.

The Civil Service Commission has asked the Israel Broadcasting Authority to investigate whether or not the Israel Radio director, Miki Miro, engaged in outside work on several occasions, without permission and in violation of both civil services and IBA regulations.

Communications Minister, Moshe Kahlon, admitted last April that the recent change of personnel at the Israel Broadcasting Authority was politically motivated. Kahlon, talking to a closed forum at the Etzel Museum in Tel Aviv, admitted that he wanted to influence the authority’s views in favour of the settler movement.

Journalist Keren Neubach was ousted from hosting the TV programme “Second Glance” on Channel 1. In addition, Mirit Hushmand, who is the producer of Neubach’s Monday radio show “Agenda”, on radio channel Bet, was summoned for a hearing before dismissal.
