MK  Henin Zuebi (Balad) came to meet with the Balad student club in Haifa University. During her visits, verbal confrontations broke out between Balad-supporting students and Jewish students, who tried to block her entrance to the university. The Jews, some of them Im Tirzu activists, shouted at the Arab students “terrorists” and “go to Gaza”. The Im Tirzu activists sang the anthem and held, inter alia, a sign saying, in Hebrew and Arabic, “Welcome to the State of Israel – the State of the Jews”. (Hebrew)

The Haifa University has denied the request by the BALAD student party in the university to hold a discussion that includes Knesset Member Haneen Zoabi. The Dean of Students explained that Zoabi’s participation in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla led to a delay of his decision. He added that “various party-affiliated student groups intend to use the event for violent clashes which could lead to bloodshed.” (Hebrew)
