The Prime Minister’s Office demanded that Prof. Rivka Feldhay, a faculty member of Tel Aviv University, cancel her participation in a meeting between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Netanayhu with academics in Berlin, because of her political views and criticism of government policy. (Haaretz)

Diplomacy: November 29, 2012
Germany decided to abstain from a UN General Assembly vote on the acceptance of Palestine as an observer state. According to a senior German diplomat said that the reason for not opposing the move is that the “Israelis did not respond in any way to our request for positive gestures toward the Palestinians, specifically in relation to construction in settlements.” (Haaretz)

El Al security personnel in Germany prevented actor Shredi Jabarin from boarding an Israir flight to Israel. Jabarin, an Arab-Israeli living in Berlin, was on his way to Israel to participate in a film production. According to him, when a security guard asked him if he can show him a contract, Jabarin answered that he does not hold a copy with him, but he is an Israeli citizen and the guard can treat him like “an Israeli citizen coming back home”. The guard then said “don’t say ‘home’, this is not home for you” and forced him to go through an extensive security check. After that, Jabarin was told he cannot board his flight.
