Channel 1 revealed that Ronit Ashkenazi, wife to former IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, communicated with Col. (Res.) Boaz Harpaz and mediated communications between Harpaz and others for collecting information regarding Yoav Galant’s construction infractions. In addition, Mrs. Ashkenazi informed Harpaz two hours before the “Galant document” became public, and once investigations began she talked with Harpaz on the phone. Mr. Ashkenazi’s assistant, Erez Weiner, warned Harpaz that the police was on its way to him.

Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Boaz Harpaz, who confessed to having forged the Galant Document, was reinstated in a classified military intelligence unit, in direct violation of an instruction by the former Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General (Ret.) Aharon Zeevi-Farkas. After the police investigation was completed, suspicions arose that Harpaz was continuing to maintain an extensive relationship with the Special Operations branch, and was exposed to sensitive, military intelligence material. Additionally, a suspicion that senior officers in the Special Operations system maintained prohibited relationships with Harpaz. (Hebrew)

Chief of Staff Major General Gabi Ashkenazi accused his assistant Erez Wiener of being on of the people responsible for the dissemination of the Galant document. However, the Chief of Staff did not explain why he did not convey the document to the Minister of Defense, the Prime Minister, of the Counsel to the Government, nor why he did not present it to other generals or to the Chief Military Prosecutor.
