Former American Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, wrote in her memoirs that Tzipi Livni (Kadima), who served at the time as the Foreign Minister of the Olmert administration, told her not to be too impressed by Olmert’s proposals since he has no standing in Israel or the political ability to clinch such a far-reaching agreement in the cabinet and Knesset.

The Deputy Government General Counsel, Attorney Rachel Gottlieb, has denied (Hebrew) the request of the attorney of former prime minister Ehud Olmert to initiate a criminal investigation against the lawyers representing the state in his case. Olmert’s defense made the request after it turned out the prosecution gave one of the witnesses a written brief, preparing her for her testimony.

The former prime minister, Ehud Olmert, criticized (Hebrew) the claims of Ehud Barak, the Minister of Defense, in the latter’s testimony before the Tirkel committee. Barak testified that Chief of Staff Ashkenazi and IDF officers were responsible for setting the specifics of the assault on the flotilla to Gaza, and that the political apparatus was only required to approve the plan. According to Olmert, “The political apparatus approve all the details of the operations, and anyone who says that the statesmen are responsible for the “what” [part of the operation] and the operational apparatus only for the “how” part, is not telling the truth”.

An investigative team from the National Fraud Investigation Unit has determined that Austrian billionaire Martin Schlaff transferred $4.5 million to the bank accounts of Gilad and Omri Sharon. Schlaff is additionally suspected of having transferred millions of shekels to a company owned by Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman; NIS 50,000 for the defense of Ehud Olmert, and hundreds of thousands of dollars for the defense of Aryeh Deri.
