The State Comptroller has published his report on the “Harpaz document” scandal. The report says that those in IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi’s office and his associates led a campaign to gather dirt on Defense Minister Ehud Barak and that Ashkenazi was at least partially aware.  Further, the report determines that Chief of Staff aide, Col. Erez Weiner, discussed ways of obtaining slanderous information about Barak and his surroundings with Boaz Harpaz, who forged the Harpaz document. (Haaretz)

Major General (Res.) Amos Gilad, head of the Defense Ministry’s diplomatic-security bureau, said that “democratic aspirations” in Egypt had resulted in a “terrible dictatorship.” Minister of Defence, Ehud Barak (Atzmaut) said that the comments made by Amos Gilad do not reflect Israel’s position.

Minister of Environmental Protection Gilad Erdan (MK Likud) said in a Kol Israel interview that “evicting the Ulpana neighborhood is a command that is impossible to follow, it won’t be executed”, following the High Court of Justice’s decision to evict the neighborhood until May 1st. Erdan had expressed his support to expropriate the authority of Minister of Defense Ehud Barak (MK Ha’Atzmaut) in matters of settlements. Meanwhile, Barak had said that “we have found 2.2 Hectares in Beit El on which we could build alternative housing if necessary”.

The IDF announced a general curfew on the West Bank for the first two days of  Passover. Minister of Defense Ehud Barak  (Atzmaut) decided to impose the closure based on the IDF’s assessment. Only humanitarian cases and extreme medical emergencies will be exempted from the curfew, upon approval from the Civil Administration.
