A survey conducted by The Second Authority for Television and Radio found that minorities are portrayed negatively on news broadcasts, entertainment shows, talk shows and reality shows on Israel’s commercial TV channels.

During operation Pillar of Cloud, dozens of complaints were sent to the Second Authority for Television and Radio, which regulates commercial broadcasts, about interviews with Palestinians and a show of empathy with them. Out of 170 complaints received, 48 dealt with interviews with Palestinians, mainly the interview with MK Ahmad Tibi (Ra’am-Ta’al), in which he attacked Channel 2′s military analyst, Roni Daniel.

Channel 2 reporter, Shai Gal, and his film crew, were assaulted in Beit Shemesh while filming the harassment of women in the city. The Jerusalem Police District has said that the journalists were attacked by several dozen Haredi men, and stones were thrown at their vehicle, which was damaged. One of the crew members sustained a light injury to his hand and was treated by a Magen David Adom crew.
