The Association for Civil Rights in Israel has appealed to the High Court of Justice in the name of Ben Gurion University students forbidden to display anti-government banners on campus by university management. The appeal was submitted after the district court in Be’er Sheva rejected the students’ request.

Prof. Galia Golan, a member of the committee to examine the Department of Politics and Government at the Ben-Gurion University, says that the report was biased by political considerations. The committee criticized the curriculum of the courses, the quality of the research, and the way that lecturers express their political views in the class.

Ben-Gurion University president, Prof. Rivka Carmi, decided to hold off 50% of the salary of Prof. Idan Landau for the period of time he has been in military prison, for conscientious objection. The decision was made without legal or disciplinary proceeding, and despite claims by Prof. Lando that he completed all his duties to the University.
