Central Elections Committee Chairman, Justice Elyakim Rubinstein, banned an ad campaign by far-right party Otzma Leyisrael, headed by MKs Aryeh Eldad and Michael Ben-Ari, over charges that it was racist. The campaign was “meant to degrade a single group in the State of Israel – The Arab population,” explained Rubinstein. (Haaretz)

Chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, MK David Rotem (Yisrael Beitenu), has asked the Central Elections Committee to bar Arab party Balad from the forthcoming elections to the 19th Knesset. MKs Michael Ben-Ari and Aryeh Eldad (Otzma LeYisrael) asked to bar both Balad and Ra’am-Ta’al, another Arab party, while MK Ofir Akunis (Likud) has asked that MK Hanin Zo’abi (Balad) be disqualified as a candidate. In a conference titled “conclusions from the Holocaust” organized by the “Holocaust Lessons Caucus,” led by National Union MK Michael Ben-Ari, left-wing activists were compared to kapos – Jewish collaborators with the Nazis, and anarchists were described as Nazis. In addition to MK Ben-Ari, the discussion was attended by MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union), Yonatan Yosef, speaker of the Jewish settlement in Sheikh Jarrah, David Bedein, and Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, head of the Temple Institute.

In a session of the Knesset’s Internal Affairs and Environment Committee, MK Aryeh Eldad said that a culture of lies has spread throughout the police, criticizing police conduct during the evacuation of the Havat Gilad outpost. MK Dov Khenin said he was disturbed by similar conduct against demonstrators in Bil’in.

48 MKs signed a petition to the government ministers to stop cooperating with 20 Israeli companies. The companies in question signed a contract with the Palestinian Authority, in which they agree not to purchase any products of settlements in the West Bank, in Eastern Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, for the purposes of the construction of the new Palestinian town of Rawabi. Among the signatories are Dahlia Itzik (Kadima), Roni Bar-On (Kadima), Yoel Hasson (Kadima), Ze’ev Elkin (Likud) and Aryeh Eldad (Ha’Ichud Ha’Leumi). (Hebrew)
