Closed Society: 11 January, 2011
This morning, protest activity began in Eilat against African refugees residing in the town. The neighborhoods association, which is part of the municipality, is handling out thousands of flags and red bands to residents, in protest of the ongoing inaction in this matter.

The Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, called on the citizens of Israel “not to take the laws into their own hands’ against African refugees. According to Netanyahu, the Israeli government is “acting assertively to stop the stream of illegal infiltrators from Africa by erecting a border fence and returning the infiltrators to their own countries”.
