Police officers who suspected that Rudy and Ofer Elbaz were trying to break into a home in Bat-Yam ordered the two to strip, even though the brothers identified themselves as the owners of the apartment and produced their IDs to prove it.

A resident of Ma’aleh Adumim who held a sign outside the Shay Police station in protest of what she said was police refusal to take seriously her complaint about her neighbors, was arrested for three days and sent to psychiatric evaluation. (Haaretz)

An indictment has been served against former Border Guards officers Liel Shamir and Ran HaLevi, who are charged with aggravated assault and abuse of power. They are charged with assaulting a Palestinian, Tysear Gamal, a resident of Hebron, after he honked his car horn at a checkpoint. When Gamal told the officers he has kidney problems, the two hit him even harder, specifically in the kidney area. (Ynetnews)

Political: January 2, 2012
The Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved for second and third readings a legislative bill annulling the results of the election for the Justice Selection Committee held by the Israel Bar Association last month. Attorney Orit Koren, the deputy Attorney-General, warned during the committee meeting that “the Knesset is abusing its legislative powers.”
